Anti-India statement - Vir Das
Actor Vir Das, who has appeared in films like Daily Belly, has been surrounded by controversies regarding one of his monologues. Veer made anti-India remarks during a stand-up comedy show abroad. He said that Indian men worship women during the day and rape them at night. Politicians and celebrities seem to be divided on this issue. While two Congress leaders have supported Vir Das, one has come out against him. Vir Das recently gave a stand-up performance at the John F Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington DC, the video of which he uploaded on his YouTube channel. The video has been titled as I come from India (I come from two India). At present, the actor himself is also abroad. As soon as the video surfaced, Bombay High Court Advocate Ashutosh J Dubey filed a complaint against the comedian. Comedian Raju Srivastava has released the video in which he said, 'Look, be it a comedian or a citizen of the country, no one has the right to make fun of his country, insult him. It is not right to make fun of India on foreign soil.Raju said in the video, 'Maybe Vir Das has some points, against some evils, against corruption, in which he wants change, wants reform. So first of all write to the media here, write to the government. If they are aware citizens, they are very aware about the problems here, then first of all they should raise their voice here. If you tell the problem of India abroad, then those people will not solve it. Go abroad, wherever you go, keep your country above, the country is paramount. Shashi Tharoor and Kapil Sibal have defended Vir Das. At the same time, Congress leader Abhishek Manu Singhvi has strongly condemned Vir Das on social media.
