Protest against BEL Management
Bhartiya Janata Yuva Morcha Bharat Electronics Ltd. (BEL) protested at the factory gate accusing the Kotdwar management of not giving priority to the local youth in the apprentice posts. He burnt the effigy of BEL management and sent a memorandum to Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, demanding that the local youth be given opportunity by canceling the recruitment of apprentice posts. He threatened to intensify the agitation if there was no positive action on the demand. On Saturday, under the leadership of BJYM District President Saurabh Naudyal, workers, municipal councilors and local people demonstrated at the main gate of the BEL factory. They raised slogans against the GM and HR officer of the factory and burnt the effigy of BEL management. In the meeting organized during this, District President Saurabh Naudyal said that the forms for 53 posts of apprentices were issued by BEL, in which the forms of 49 youths from other states have been approved. Only four local youths have been taken for food supply. Said that according to the mandate of the Uttarakhand government, a provision has been made to provide employment to 70 percent local youth in any industry, but at present, the local youths were not given place by the GM and HR officer working in BEL.
